In the middle of two years of filming, the crew of the movie "Le plus beau pays du monde" (The Most Beautiful Country in the World) set up their cameras in our garden for a week during the summer of 2017. It's a scripted and very unique view of the living world, including that of alpine plants... which we hope will make you want to come visit us! See the footage on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 9 p.m. on France 2!

Excerpt from the press release:

Five years after the success of "Le Plus Beau Pays du Monde 1 & 2" (exceptional prime-time shows that won the hearts of French viewers with 7 and 5 million viewers on France 2), director Frédéric Fougea returns with "Le Sanctuaire," the third installment, broadcast on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 9 p.m. on France 2. Narrated by Gérard Lanvin, this 90-minute film takes us to the heart of a wild land where nature still hides some of its most beautiful secrets: the Alps. Close to home, there is a world where winter lasts eight months, where temperatures drop to minus forty degrees, and where the air is severely lacking in oxygen: the Alps. All the living creatures that inhabit this region have adapted to these extreme conditions. But how do they manage to attract mates, raise their young ( in the case of animals!), and conquer new territories?

Our heroes have incredible stories to tell us: a wolf condemned to exile after her mate was killed by a bear, the journey of a bearded vulture searching for his birthplace, the romantic escapades of a red frog in frozen lakes, the strange fate of an ancient immortal tree, a shepherd's heroic battle against wolves...

And then, of course, there's the world of alpine plants! Four people working full-time for a whole week of filming dedicated to the Garden... for a few minutes of breathtakingly beautiful images of the Lautaret Garden and, more generally, the area around the pass.

Get ready to discover an unexpected, unforgiving, and wonderful world. A great journey right on our doorstep, in Europe's last sanctuary.
