Introduction to the Vivalp Living Lab
In the mountains, climate change is already here. Nature is changing, and with it, agricultural, tourism, and forestry practices—as well as the landscapes… How can we adapt the way we live in the mountains in a context that is changing so rapidly? Spotlight on VIVALP
The principle behind nature-based solutions is to work with natural environments to address specific local challenges, such as soil erosion (Les Trois Vallées) or droughts and vole infestations in hayfields (farmers in the Pays de la Meije).

These solutions must be developed collaboratively and tested by local stakeholders (residents, professionals, operators, etc.) with the support of scientists. They can complement—or even replace—more extensive solutions such as civil engineering.
